How To Use The Calorie Counter

  1. Click Settings at the top right corner of the Calorie Counter widget.
  2. Enter your Age, Gender, Weight, Height, Activity Level and click Save.
  3. This will give your approximate max calorie amount per day.
  4. Now choose between Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Misc.
  5. Then choose your Main Dish and select the type of food, the serving amounts and click Add
  6. Continue with your Side Dish, Toppings, Desserts etc
  7. After finish with Breakfast, continue with Lunch, Dinner etc
  8. When you finish, it will show the total calories from your selected food for the day

Understanding About Calories

We all hear about calories, how bad they are for you and how much they have to do with weight management, but few people actually understand what calories are. Calories are the units of energy that are contained in the foods and drinks we consume. First and foremost it is important to understand that calories are not entirely bad, although it seems that way because of how they are portrayed in the media. We actually need calories and there is no real way that you could live without them.

Different types of food contain different amounts of calories. Eating fewer and more calories than your body needs can be harmful, which is why it is useful to keep track of how many calories you consume on average. If you look at the nutritional labels of any food or drink you will see how many calories are contained in the entire unit. It is really surprising just how many calories some contain, and by knowing this and understanding how many calories you need in a day, you will be able to gain more control over your weight and health in general.

Carbohydrates are also important to understand about, and technically all carbohydrates have the same number of calories per gram. But you also have to consider foods and beverages from a nutritional standpoint, as in this regard they will differ greatly. A soft drink for example, is going to be far less nutritional for you than vegetables and fruits, although they may have the same number of calories. Your best nutrition bet then is to cut refined carbohydrates from foods such as white bread and replace them with high fiber alternatives. There are many foods that are loaded with fiber, such as wholegrain breads and cereals, and pasta.

Losing Weight

Besides counting calories, there are also other things that you can do to lose weight. The first step is to determine how much you actually should weight. This number may be surprising to you, especially since most people think that they are supposed to weigh far less than they actually should. Of course, the taller you are the more you are expected to weigh, and so you will want to be aware of this as well. Keep in mind that the idea of beauty is rather warped in today’s day and age, and pictures of models in magazines pressure people into thinking that they should be very thin.

If you have a weight problem then you need to determine what things in your life are contributing to you being overweight, and there are many things that this may refer to. Overweight people often have struggled with their weight for a very long time, and although you may think that you are just too lazy or do not have the motivation, this actually may not be the problem at all. For instance there may be genetic weight problems, you may be an emotional eater which means that you eat when you are stressed or lonely, for instance, or you may be using food as a distraction or as a way to cure your boredom.

Once you have determined the causes of your weight problem, you will need to set up a proper diet and exercise regime. You need to come up with a regular exercise program for one, as few people can lose weight without exercise. The best kind of exercise is that which is going to help you burn fat and gain muscle. Aerobic exercise for one is fantastic because you will be able to do it for the rest of your life, and it also helps to burn calories more than almost any other exercise. The longer you exercise the more your body will burn fat and so you want to get active as often as you can for the best results. You also need to have a regular eating pattern, and not only does this mean eating lots of fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grain breads and cereals, and of course plenty of water, but also that you keep eating the same types of foods rather than switching back and forth from healthy to unhealthy foods. Also try to eat five to six smaller meals each day rather than three larger meals, so that you feel less bloated and sluggish and so that your body can more easily digest the food.

By eating healthily and getting lots of exercise you will not only be able to get down to a healthy weight and get fit now, but also will keep you looking and feeling at your very best for the rest of your life. This is very important because besides being healthy you will also have a lot more self confidence and self esteem, and therefore will be happier and healthier in general.
